12/2023 From the new adopter:

After two miserable dogless years, we finally welcomed to our family this perfect, 4-yo baby boy. Wyatt - now Wiley, was described to us as a shy boy, who probably wouldn’t come close to us for the first couple of days, won’t enjoy the car ride and will probably be easily triggered in the leash. We were determined to give him all the space and time he needed.

Now, a day later, we suspect that there was a mixup and we got a wrong dog . 

Wiley nervously panted in the car for the first few minutes, then curiously looked around and quickly relaxed into his bed. We had to make couple of stops on the way home when he played with our friends’ dogs, meandered through a crowd into a quiet area where he chilled in my lap.

When we took the exit off of the freeway towards our street, Wiley jumped up and started sniffing the air excitedly. By the time we pulled into the driveway, he was wagging his tail and pacing, impatient to jump out. How did he know?

 Later he had a lovely evening, gobbling up his dinner, playing in the backyard and enjoying the fire with his new pack of humans. 

He picked our bed as his new sleeping arrangement and this morning followed me into the shower, where we both got clean and fresh. I tested how far I could gently take this and quickly found out that cutting the mats out with scissors is ok, but the buzzing clippers are a hard no. Respect.

We are now cuddling on the sofa, writing this update and being completely in love
